Another study on rats revealed less swelling and joint destruction. It is suggested that raspberries protect against arthritis by blocking COX-2. COX-2 is an enzyme which causes inflammation and pain.

Hibiscus tea had shown a decrease in systolic blood pressure during a study on people. Five other studies discovered that hibiscus tea decreased both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Hibiscus may be seen as a safe and natural way to help lower blood pressure, though it is not recommended for those taking hydrochlorothiazide, a type of diuretic used to treat high blood pressure, as it may interact with the drug.
